Pastoral Care
At Harris Westminster, we are a community and that means we place high priority on looking after each other and ourselves.
Pastoral care comes in a variety of forms but starts with students understanding that they can ask for help from any member of staff and will always receive it.
All students are a member of a tutor group which belongs to a House and it is through these channels that students find their "home" at HWSF. Their form tutor and Head of House are their starting points to ask for help, whether that help is academic, personal, financial, physical or otherwise.
Our pastoral support systems are robust with clear escalation avenues when a more skilled or specialised adult might be needed. On top of ensuring our staff are highly skilled (for example, we have a large number of safeguarding and counselling trained staff), we have support from external agencies and individuals.
Our external support includes in-school programmes such as the Discover Programme, as well as individuals such as counsellors, school nurse, parent mentors, professional mentors, and alumni mentors.
The most important thing for a Harris Westminster student to remember is that help is always available, all they have to do is ask.
