Parent Teacher Association

We are delighted on behalf of the HWSF PTA (Parent Teacher Association) to welcome you and your child(ren) to the HWSF community. It was a real pleasure to meet many Year 12 parents at the induction events, and to be able to introduce you to our recently formed PTA. We hope all is going really well so far, and also for Year 13 students as they embark on this demanding year!

All parents and carers are automatically members of the HWSF PTA. It is led by an enthusiastic Committee of parents working closely with the school leadership to enhance our children's experience.

  1. To fundraise and create opportunities for our students.
  2. To host events that bring our community closer together.

Our fundraising currently focuses on three key goals identified by the school:

  1. Providing a pantry for students to access essential items at times when HWSF families find themselves in need of food.
  2. Improving our library with new bookshelves.
  3. Establishing a travel/trip fund to ensure all students can attend school and participate in school trips and visits, regardless of their financial situation.

Our donations platform is GoodHub. You can make one-off or recurring contributions and have the option to select GiftAid. Recurring contributions, irrespective of the amount, allow us to budget for future goals and we would grateful if you could consider making a recurring contribution by clicking on this link: https://app.goodhub.com/hwsf-ptf

Many companies offer their employees the opportunity to boost their fundraising efforts by ‘matching’ the money they raise. If your employer offers a match funding scheme please get in touch, it can help the PTA to double the money we raise for the school.

We started only in spring 2024, but have already made some significant steps. We held an enjoyable and successful launch event in May with a talk by Mr Handscombe, music and a bake sale, have acquired 90 copies of set text Stoker's "Dracula" for our library, supported the school with the first annual Careers Fair in July and more recently we hosted a quiz night.

We will be keeping in touch via emails to parents, and we also invite you to join the PTA WhatsApp, both to hear about PTA activities and to keep in touch with other parents in our community. If you would like to join the WhatsApp group please email PTA@harriswestminstersixthform.org.uk.

As parents and carers, you can choose the level of your involvement in the PTA.  You’ll be supporting the PTA just by participating in our events and initiatives, but we are also looking for people to get more involved. This could be by:

  • Helping arrange our events.
  • Becoming a PTA Committee member – at our AGM on the morning of Saturday November 9th, we’ll be looking for a Year 12 parent Co-Chair, Co-Treasurer and Co-Secretary to work jointly with our current team over the coming year.
  • Seeking sponsorship and donations from external organisations that align with the values and mission of HWSF.

If you are think you may be interested in getting involved in any way, we’d be really pleased to hear from you at pta@harriswestminstersixthform.org.uk

Warmest wishes,

Milya Vered Foulis, Sonia Johnson, Sorosh Kordestani, Claudia Rubenstein
