Entrance Examinations

Places to study at Harris Westminster are offered on the basis of performance in subject-specific examinations. Prospective students take examinations in the January of the year they wish to begin their sixth form studies. Students take two examinations, chosen at the time of application, from their four subject choices.

There are some things to note:

  • There is no EPQ, Core Maths or Art examinations.
  • Students choosing Further Mathematics and Mathematics must select Mathematics as one of their examination choices.
  • Students choosing two sciences (out of Biology, Chemistry and Physics) must select at least one science for examination.
  • Students choosing two essay subjects (out of History, Art History, Politics, English) must select at least one of these for examination.

It is not expected that additional content will need to be learned for the examinations beyond that which will have been covered in Year 10 and 11 - the questions are written by our teachers and are designed to test understanding and reasoning rather than factual knowledge. They are NOT based on any specific exam board questions.
